Crop Hail coverage provides protection against physical damage from hail. Because a single hail storm can totally destroy growing crops, many producers choose to add this coverage. Crop Hail can be used along with MPCI or other comprehensive coverage's to offset the MPCI deductible and provide protection up to the actual cash value of the crop. Coverage is provided on an acre-by acre basis, so the damage that occurs on only part of a farm may be eligible for payment when the rest of the crop remains unaffected. A Crop Hail policy can be purchased at any time during the growing season and the Grower is free to decide the insurance coverage per acre.
